Master of Arts in Educational Technology Showcase
Welcome to my educational technology showcase page! This page is very much a diary of all that I have learned and accomplished during my journey through the Master of Arts in Educational Technology (MAET) program at Michigan State University. I started the program as a educational technology certificate program student as a means to meet the teaching certificate renewal requirements. What I did not expect is the excitement and passion that I would develop for education technology and the overwhelming positive impact that it would have have over my classroom and teaching. It was not long before I officially entered into the MAET program to begin what I consider to be a lifelong journey through the art of using technology to enhance learning, understanding, and success in the classroom and beyond. I have organized my showcase in chronological order as my learning, understanding, skill set, and goals have evolved as I progressed through the program. I have also included a sub page to showcase the blogs that I have created in various courses.
Personal Growth Plan
The first course that I took as a student in the educational technology certificate program was teaching for understanding with technology. An integral part of the course was creating a personal growth plan that I worked on and revised each week. The process of creating a personal growth plan allowed me to reflect on what I had learned and set goals for myself as an educator and student in the certificate program. This particular document is important to me because it laid the ground work and was the foundation for the rest of my experience in the MAET program.
Establishing a Professional Learning Network
As part of the MAET program, I worked on establishing a professional learning network (PLN) to help support my learning and goals as a student of educational technology. Creating a PLN was an integral part of having the tools necessary to meet the goals that I had set for myself in my personal growth plan. The following Prezi outlines my PLN and my hope is that is will continue to mature and grow as I continue to place an emphasis on educational technology in my district and teaching.
Apps for Educators: A look at apps for 21st century teaching and learning
One of the projects that I created in the teaching for understanding with technology course produced some of the key ideals that have become very important to me during the my time in the MAET program. The P21 framework for 21st century teaching and learning has become a focal point as I plan and structure my daily lessons and it has shaped my thinking as an educator and proponent of educational technology. I selected this project for my showcase as it outlines some of the ideals that remain important to me and reflects the values that I have as a 21st century educator.
Universal Design for Learning - Creating a 21st Century Learning Environment
In my adapting innovative technologies in education course, I learned about universal design for learning and focused a portion of my coursework around creating a learning space that is conducive to 21st century learning goals. I conducted a lot of research and in the end, I created a learning space using Google Sketch-up that can be used in my own classroom and that uses the basic ideas of universal design for learning.

Problem of Practice and Creating a Screencast
Throughout many of my courses in the MAET program, various problems of practice were identified, examined, and reported on in many different fashions. I had the opportunity to select a problem of practice and create a screencast that identified the problem and highlighted a solution. I wanted to include this artifact in my showcase as it was the first time I had created a screencast and it is a skill that I continue to use today in my teaching. You can view my full screencast by clicking on the button below:
Learning, Teaching, and Technology - A Wordle Representation
Through the course of the MAET program, I have been inspired to challenge myself to discover ways to use technology to drive learning in my classroom. Finding ways to incorporate technology into my lessons, classroom, and school has become a passion of mine. It is through technology that I actively work to inspire passion and curiosity in all students as they transform into 21st century thinkers, producers, and leaders. My use of technology demonstrates my own passion, curiosity, and love of learning. This word cloud that I created embodies my curiosity and passion for learning, teaching, and technology.
Creating an Online Course Module
One of the most challenging and rewarding experiences that I had during my journey in the MAET program was the creation of my own online course module. I explored many different learning management systems before I selected Haiku LMS as the platform that I would use to create a mock online learning space that targeted students in the grade level and subject area that I teach. I am pleased to say that I was able to translate the work that I had done in the creation of my online course module into my actual classroom and I intend to expand on what I have already created into my classroom in the coming school years. You can view my online course module by clicking on the button below.
My Vision: Teaching with Technology
As part of my journey in the MAET program, I was asked to think about and discuss my vision of the future ahead, near and intermediate term, for the use of technology for learning. The vision statement that I created is an extension of the goals and ideas that I set forth in my personal learning plan at the start of the program. This new and revised vision is the result of further experiences in the MAET program and my commitment to the use of educational technologies in my classroom and teaching.
Creating a Blog
An important part of my learning as a student in the MAET program included the creation and maintenance of my own Blog sites. My Blogs became a place for me to showcase my coursework and share what I had learned with my professional learning community. I created a Blog space for three courses in the MAET program and the online space that has been dedicated to each outlines and showcases my learning and work in each of those individual courses. I have dedicated a sub page to my blogs under my main showcase page.
